These two papers provide a nice overview of DEM error modelling and error propagation. Lane et al. (2003) was one of the first and most thorough descriptions of ways to represent DEM error in a spatial uniform way (similar to what Brasington et al. (2003) used). By contrast the Milan et al. (2011) paper provides a nice overview of spatially variable error methods, which we explore more in coming weeks.
