Implementation Day for LTPBR - SUMMIT CREEK
- Due Apr 13, 2024 by 8:30am
- Points 75
- Available Apr 13, 2024 at 8:30am - Apr 13, 2024 at 5pm 8 hours and 30 minutes
This is the day we have all waited for - no more planning, no more design - it is time to get dirty and build some messy LTPBR structures. We will meet at at the USFS parking lot on Summit Creek Rd (directions from Logan Links to an external site.) at 0830 to begin the implementation day. However, we would like all the students to FIRST meet at 0800 at the Lee's Market Parking lot in Smithfield and arrange to carpool to the site in the LEAST NUMBER OF VEHICLES POSSIBLE (directions to Lee's Links to an external site.).
We will start the day with a safety tailgate where we will go over the emergency procedures should an accident happen. We will then review the safety procedures for operating the hydraulic post driver, safety equipment requirements, and safety procedures for working in and around streams and your coworkers. We will then break up into groups and let each group begin to implement a portion of their design. Any field fitting or design changes can be made in the field after some consultation with the instruction team. We will end the day with the entire group walking through the completed structures and the individual groups reporting on their trials and tribulations during the implementation process. Everyone should complete an as-built survey before leaving and submit a final report.
