Enter a brief paragraph or two to introduce the module’s topics and expectations.

Here are some tips on what to write about:

  • Essential questions that will be answered in the module (How do you discover and select sources written by MMU authors? How do you conduct a literature review? How do you search for digital materials in the special collections?)
  • How the library can support student learning.
  • How to get into contact with a librarian or library services.

Objectives

Each module learning objective reveals what students will do or learn in order to evidence mastery of the module content. Quizzes, assignments, and discussions can be used to measure how well a student can master a concept or process. The following are three steps
to create a measurable objective:
Step 1: Vision - Brainstorm what you want the student to do.
Step 2: Measurement - Determine how the student will meet your vision.
Step 3: Formula - Write out the learning objective using the formula below.

ACTION VERB + MEASUREMENT

Below are some examples of weekly learning objectives. Notice how each objective begins with an action verb that allows you to measure student mastery.

  • Apply elements of the organizational communication process to enhance organizational communication events.
  • Identify the categories of communication competencies.
  • Evaluate elements of the organizational communication process.
  • Formulate effective strategies in overcoming real or perceived communication barriers within an organization.
  • Discuss the effect that shared meaning has on organizational communication interactions.

Learning Resources

Enter learning resources (videos, articles) in the module. Include URLs of online resources where applicable and/or the location or call number of the materials. Additionally, include any activities students will be able to complete or engage in within the module that won’t be graded.

If you will be including a video in the module, please keep it to 5 minutes or less.

  • This includes librarian introduction videos, demos, screen recordings, or instructional framework videos
  • If your video is longer than 5 minutes, then cut the video into segments to be layered throughout the module

Please limit large segments of text - the module should not look like a text book

  • Text should be short chunks that are layered throughout the pages
  • You can use activities, quick checks, videos, and images to break apart large segments of text

If you have any questions, please email the Online Learning Librarian for assistance

Activities

Enter all graded activities and assessments in the module. This can include items like tutorials, assignments, or quizzes. Anything students need to turn in should be listed here. You can find additional instructions on how to create meaningful activities in the reference assignments included in this module.
