Wheaton et al. (2019) developed a set of Riverscape and Restoration Principles to guide LTPBR. The intent of these principles was to replace overly precise prescriptions for restoration with a more nuanced appreciation for the dynamic nature and processes that lead to healthy riverscapes. The authors contend that if these principles are integrated in restoration planning, design, implementation, and monitoring restoration outcomes are more likely to be sustainable (and that understanding these principles are more important than precise details of structure design and prescriptive outcomes). Your assignment is to take either a pro or con stance on this assertion and explain why you support or do not support these principles. In your argument, demonstrate that you understand the principles and why they do or do not promote restoration "success". Since the principles build on the literature of process-based restoration, define what PBR is (hint Beechie et al. 2010 defines it) in your own words. Limit your answer to ~1,500 words (~ 2 pages) and use examples from your own experience or analogies from other sciences (i..e, medical, biology, etc).
